Mr. Meagher was educated at Gonzaga College Dublin and studied Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), graduating in 1989. He completed basic surgical training in Dublin, qualifying as a General Surgeon in 1993 and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCSI).

He undertook specialist training in Plastic Surgery at St James’s Hospital and Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Dublin, before moving to London to complete a six-year Plastic Surgery training programme within the Pan Thames Training Scheme at leading institutions including Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital and St George’s University Hospital. During this time, he completed an MSc in Surgical Science at University College London in 1997 and was awarded the Fellowship of the Plastic Surgery Division of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Plast) in 1999.

Mr. Meagher then completed a two-year fellowship in Microsurgery at the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery in Melbourne, qualifying as a Fellow in Microsurgery in 2001.

He was appointed Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon and Honorary Senior Lecturer at St George’s University Hospital, London in 2001. In 2007, he returned to Dublin as Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon at St James’s Hospital and St Vincent’s University Hospital, where he served as Director of the National Burns Unit.

Mr. Meagher is currently Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon at Beacon Hospital, Dublin, where he is Chairman of the Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and a member of the Medical Board. He also practices at St Vincent’s University Hospital and holds an Associate Professorship at the UCD School of Medicine.

He has extensive experience across the full spectrum of plastic and reconstructive surgery, with specialist interests in hand surgery, skin cancer, scar management, and aesthetic surgery, including breast, body contouring, facial and nasal procedures.

Mr. Meagher is actively involved in teaching and training and has significant medico-legal experience, acting as an expert witness for Fitness to Practise hearings on behalf of the Medical Council of Ireland.

He holds full registration with the Medical Council of Ireland and the General Medical Council (UK), and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a member of multiple professional bodies.
